UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warning ends

National Weather Service cancels warning for much of Central Florida

Other areas remain under flood watch as heavy rains continue

The National Weather Service has canceled a severe thunderstorm warning for much of Central Florida, but other areas remain under a flood watch as heavy rains continue to fall.

The warning was issued earlier this evening for Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Brevard, Volusia and Lake counties. The storms brought with them heavy rain, lightning and strong winds.

The National Weather Service said the storms are expected to continue through the night, and there is a risk of flooding in low-lying areas.

The NWS has issued a flood watch for Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Brevard, Volusia and Lake counties. The watch will remain in effect until 7 a.m. Thursday.

Residents in these areas should be prepared for flooding and should take precautions to protect their property.

The NWS recommends that residents avoid driving through flooded areas and that they be aware of the risk of downed power lines.
